April 1st - We’re No Fools!

April 1st saw the end of an era at Filer Knapper, and the dawning of a new one.

John Sparkes, our senior partner, retired from the partnership to become an active consultant within the firm. John began work at Filer Knapper as a trainee articled clerk in 1965, which is even before Michael Filer started the current firm. He became a partner in 1972, and in 2009 celebrated his 45th Office Christmas Lunch! John made a massive contribution to the success of the firm over the years. He built up an excellent rapport with his clients and became known for his technical knowledge and business experience. We are delighted that he will be working with us, as a consultant, for the next few years.

We are also proud to announce that Philippa Blunt became a partner on April 1st. Many of you will already know Philippa, who was previously our tax associate. She has extensive expertise and experience in all areas of tax. Philippa joined us in 1997 having worked for a Big Four firm and the Inland Revenue. Philippa is our first technical specialist to become a partner and this gives us added breadth and ability.

These are exciting times for us and we look forward to sharing them with you in years to come.
